On-Line Fiber Festival, a Facebook Live event

It looks like Spring has finally arrived. Temps have warmed significantly and we’re getting lots of renewing rain. We’re got potatos, onions, lettuce and spinach in the ground. The chicks and ducklings are growing rapidly, it won’t be long before we’ll be able to move them out of the brooder and outside to their run. Greg has build a new “chicken tractor” for them. It’s a moveable chicken coop we’ll have the oxen drag around the farm, giving the chickens fresh pasture every day.

Amy is itching to get back to work in the mill. Will have to wait another day or two, though. When we turned the water back on there as a leak where water had collected over the winter and then burst the pipe. We’ve got it glued up, just waiting for it to set.

Due to the Covid 19 quarantines, we’ve lost our entire spring and early summer show season. Our next fiber show isn’t until early August now. We’re still waiting to find out if the South Haven Farmer’s Market is going to open this year, or under what circumstances. This has been a major economic hit for us. One glimmer of hope has been participating in an On-Line Fiber Festal, a Facebook Live event.

Each vendor had 30 minutes live time over the course of the weekend event. It was the first time we’d ever done anything like this and the results in both publicity and sales was beyond our wildest hopes. We are anxiously looking forward to the next event, scheduled Memorial Day weekend.
